Who can apply?
Applicants must have completed at least 50 semester credit hours. Physical and natural sciences, engineering, computing and mathematics are preferred backgrounds. Read the full nationality and programme restrictions before applying.
Funding and benefits
Interns conduct supervised planetary-science research and take part in scientific and career activities. Read the current financial-support and travel conditions in LPI’s FAQ; this article does not invent a stipend amount.
How to apply and important dates
Submit the online application and all supporting items in English by 14 December 2026 at 11:59 PM US Central Time. Paper applications are not accepted. Use the confirmation link to monitor recommendation status.
Documents and preparation
LPI requires an official transcript, CV or résumé and at least two, but no more than three, recommendation letters.
Before you submit
Make a personal checklist from the official instructions. Check that your name matches your identity documents, that uploaded files are readable and that your referees have enough time. Save a copy of your submission and its confirmation. If the provider changes its announcement, follow its current instructions rather than an older listing.
Frequently asked question
Can recommendation letters arrive after the deadline?
