Yenching Academy is accepting applications for its 2027 cohort. The published deadline is 30 November 2026 at 9:00 AM Beijing time, so applicants must not treat the deadline as the end of that day.
Who can apply?
International applicants must meet the academy’s degree, academic and English requirements and hold a valid non-Chinese passport. Special nationality-document rules apply to former Chinese citizens. Partner-university students and alumni must follow their university’s internal pre-selection process.
Funding and benefits
The fellowship includes tuition, accommodation, a monthly stipend, one round-trip travel fare and field-study costs. Check the official programme terms for the duration and conditions.
How to apply and important dates
Follow the appropriate applicant route on Yenching’s admissions page. Arrange official English test delivery early. The academy does not accept several home/online tests and does not accept TOEFL MyBest scores.
Documents and preparation
Prepare the degree and academic documents, statements, references and accepted English evidence listed in the application portal. For TOEFL delivery, the official institutional code is C488.
Before you submit
Make a personal checklist from the official instructions. Check that your name matches your identity documents, that uploaded files are readable and that your referees have enough time. Save a copy of your submission and its confirmation. If the provider changes its announcement, follow its current instructions rather than an older listing.
Frequently asked question
Can a partner-university applicant skip internal nomination?
No. The admissions page requires its internal pre-selection before the academy application.
Official source and verification
