Duke’s Karsh International Scholars Program considers eligible international undergraduate applicants through the admission process. There is no separate Karsh scholarship application or nomination route.
Who can apply?
Applicants must have strong academic preparation and documented financial need. Dual US citizens and people who already hold a bachelor’s degree are not eligible for this award.
Funding and benefits
The programme covers tuition, room and board, mandatory fees, demonstrated need beyond those costs, and three summers of support for research, unpaid internships and related academic opportunities.
How to apply and important dates
Apply to Duke and request financial aid in the admission application. Complete the required financial-aid documents. Duke’s current application page lists Early Decision on 2 November and Regular Decision on 4 January; verify the intake-specific checklist before choosing a route.
Documents and preparation
Gather school records and required recommendations, plus accurate family financial documents for the aid assessment. Admission and aid submissions are separate tasks within the process.
Before you submit
Make a personal checklist from the official instructions. Check that your name matches your identity documents, that uploaded files are readable and that your referees have enough time. Save a copy of your submission and its confirmation. If the provider changes its announcement, follow its current instructions rather than an older listing.
Frequently asked question
Can I request aid for the first time after enrolling?
Duke says international students who did not indicate financial-aid interest on admission are ineligible to apply for aid later.
