Melbourne’s Research Training Program Scholarship is open for automatic consideration. New applicants apply for their graduate research course by its closing date rather than using one universal RTP deadline.
Who can apply?
Applicants must meet the entry requirements for a graduate research degree or already be enrolled. Stipend-and-fee awards are competitively ranked on previous academic results and research potential.
Funding and benefits
The full stipend-and-fee package includes a 2027 full-time living allowance of AUD 41,100 per year, fee offset, applicable relocation support and single OSHC for eligible international students. Fee-only and full packages differ.
How to apply and important dates
Apply for the research degree by the relevant course/faculty deadline. New applicants are automatically considered. Deferred and enrolled students must check their faculty’s reconsideration procedure.
Documents and preparation
Prepare the course admission checklist, research proposal and supporting evidence. Keep a record of the faculty scholarship round because departments use different schedules.
Before you submit
Make a personal checklist from the official instructions. Check that your name matches your identity documents, that uploaded files are readable and that your referees have enough time. Save a copy of your submission and its confirmation. If the provider changes its announcement, follow its current instructions rather than an older listing.
Frequently asked question
Does everyone receive the full stipend?
No. The stipend-and-fee package is competitive; automatic consideration does not guarantee an award.
