UBC is accepting International Scholars applications for September 2027. Both the university application and award application must be submitted by 15 November 2026, 11:59 PM Pacific Time.
Who can apply?
Applicants must be international students entering their first undergraduate degree directly from accredited secondary school. For the 2027 Winter session, high-school graduation must be no earlier than June 2026. Strong academics, leadership and significant financial need are required.
Funding and benefits
This is a need-and-merit-based programme. UBC assesses family income, expenses and assets; applicants should not assume a standard identical award for everyone. International Scholars applicants are not considered for UBC’s separate merit awards.
How to apply and important dates
Initiate the award application, request an institutional nomination and invite a teacher referee. Submit the admission application as well. Set the award-system time zone to Pacific Time so its deadline is displayed correctly.
Documents and preparation
Gather academic records, leadership evidence and accurate family financial documents. Allow your nominator and referee time to finish their sections.
Before you submit
Make a personal checklist from the official instructions. Check that your name matches your identity documents, that uploaded files are readable and that your referees have enough time. Save a copy of your submission and its confirmation. If the provider changes its announcement, follow its current instructions rather than an older listing.
Frequently asked question
Is the general January admission deadline enough?
No. International Scholars applicants must meet the earlier 15 November admission-and-award deadline.
