The UM NL Global Studies Scholarship is a competitive award for the three-year Global Studies bachelor’s programme. The 2027/28 scholarship window opened on 1 October 2026.
Who can apply?
Applicants need nationality from an eligible OECD development-assistance country, excluding Surinam, with no disqualifying dual nationality. They must not already hold an equivalent bachelor’s degree and must be no older than 35 on 1 September 2027. Financial need is part of selection.
Funding and benefits
The 36-month package includes tuition, insurance, visa costs and living support of €20,150 per academic year at the published 2027/28 rate. Air tickets and the specified cleaning charge are excluded.
How to apply and important dates
Complete the Global Studies admission file by 10 December 2026. Submit the separate scholarship form by 1 February 2027 at 23:59 CET. Maastricht warns that its portal is unavailable 22–26 October during an upgrade; prepare documents and return after maintenance.
Documents and preparation
Prepare a maximum two-page CV, the official motivation template, academic results, financial-need statement and a reference meeting UM’s guidelines.
Before you submit
Make a personal checklist from the official instructions. Check that your name matches your identity documents, that uploaded files are readable and that your referees have enough time. Save a copy of your submission and its confirmation. If the provider changes its announcement, follow its current instructions rather than an older listing.
Frequently asked question
Can I refuse the allocated first-year room?
The official terms say refusing the allocated room cancels the scholarship. Read the housing conditions first.
