Clarendon supports new Oxford master’s and DPhil students across subject areas. The central rule is to apply for the degree by its relevant December or January funding deadline; there is no single universal Clarendon date.
Who can apply?
All nationalities and countries of ordinary residence are eligible. Applicants must be starting a new eligible course. Deferred offer holders and students simply continuing the same Oxford degree are excluded.
Funding and benefits
Awards cover course fees and support living or study costs during the agreed period of fee liability. Full-time and part-time grants differ. Check the award letter for current amounts instead of carrying an older stipend rate into 2027.
How to apply and important dates
Submit a complete graduate course application by the relevant funding deadline. There is no separate Clarendon form or additional Clarendon document upload. Departments assess admission and may nominate strong candidates for funding.
Documents and preparation
Follow the chosen course’s requirements for transcripts, references, personal statement, written work and research proposal. Academic excellence and future research potential are central to selection.
Before you submit
Make a personal checklist from the official instructions. Check that your name matches your identity documents, that uploaded files are readable and that your referees have enough time. Save a copy of your submission and its confirmation. If the provider changes its announcement, follow its current instructions rather than an older listing.
Frequently asked question
Do I need a separate Clarendon application?
No. Eligible course applications submitted by the relevant December or January deadline are considered automatically.
